5 minute fluffy tulle pigtail bows!
Today we are making a super fabulous set of fluffy tulle pigtail bows.... In just 5 minutes!! No kidding! It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or expert level crafter today because this adorable pigtail set is super duper simple! So let's gather up our supplies and get right to it!
Shown above are the supplies you will need! 100% of these supplies can be found right here at HBC in an excellent variety of colors to choose from, all at prices worth shouting about! WooHoo! You will need the following items:
•6" tulle in Hot Pink and White
•2 alligator clips (for holding tulle in place)
•2 small elastic hair bands
•3/8" sheer organza ribbon
•Scissors
•3.5"x6" piece of cardboard
First off, let's talk about this fancy template I'm using - lol! It is nothing more than one of the top flaps from the cardboard box of my last shipment of ribbon and supplies from HBC! My cardboard template measures 3.5" by 6". Grab your first color choice of tulle and secure the end onto your template using one of HBC's amazingly strong alligator clips. For this project I am using the largest 2.25" clip. There is no special way you have to wrap your tulle around the template. I am just folding mine a few times and messily wrapping it around and around.
Once you have wrapped your tulle around your template to the end (I wrapped mine around 7 times) cut your tulle and hold the end in place using another alligator clip as shown in the pictures above.
Using our white tulle, now we are going to wrap directly on top of our hot pink tulle, starting at the opposite end this time. Wrap your tulle approx 7 times once again until you reach the opposite end. Cut off and secure your tulle under your clip.
Slide a piece of 3/8" sheer organza ribbon under all layers of tulle. (You may also use a strip of tulle here rather than sheer ribbon if you'd like.)
Flip your template over and slide a piece of sheer ribbon under your tulle on the backside as well.
I find this next step a tad easier if I bunch my tulle up a little closer together. Just make sure your alligator clips are always holding your tulle ends in place. Hold up one end of your sheer ribbon and place one of your elastic hair bands around it.
Now we are going to pull the center of our tulle tight using our ribbon. Make sure your elastic hair tie is securely under your ribbon and tie a double knot. The tulle will still be somewhat loose but nothing should be coming out of place.
Flip your template over and repeat steps.
Now we are going to separate our two pigtails! Simply cut the tulle along each edge of the template.
Now we have two separate pieces made out of one! What a time saver!! Take each end of your sheer ribbon and wrap back around to the front and bring to the backside once again. This time pull your ribbon as tight as possible leaving no wiggle room whatsoever for your tulle. Trim off any extra ribbon using your scissors. Do this for each piece.
Now we have two gorgeously fanned out tulle circles with very minimal effort! These are super cute just as they are and can be fluffed just a tad and get treated to one of HBC's gorgeous embellishments, or you can choose to fluff them up to the max and the end result looks like this:
Now your fluffy tulle pigtail set is ready and anxiously waiting to be adored as the centerpiece to your little angel's adorable do! There are hundreds of beautiful creations that can be made with HBC's wide variety of tulle colors and supplies! Now you're ready to make many many more.... All in just 5 minutes per set! ENJOY!! :)
